Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT)
Developed in the 1960s by Dr. Aaron T. Beck, CBT has long since been used by clinicians around the world to assist clients in changing the negative thought patterns behind dysfunctional behaviors and low moods.

CBT operates on the theory that our thoughts affect how we feel and how we behave. Many of us operate daily with distorted thinking without even knowing it. These distortions such as, all-or-nothing thinking, mind reading, fortune-telling, and self-blame affect our feelings and our behaviors.
In addition, many of us have self-defeating beliefs (SDBs) that limit our ability to change or to see ourselves or others differently. These SDBs keep us in dysfunctional thought patterns and behaviors.
Through CBT, your therapist will assist you in recognizing these distorted thoughts and SDBs and changing them to something more positive or more real. In this way you can enjoy more happiness and peace as your positive thoughts will lead to positive feelings and behaviors. Please talk with your clinician if you are interested in the benefits of CBT.
